With the Wandle Trust www.wandletrust.org a week ago discovered idyllic waterfront properties just off the Croydon Road! Stunningly lovely river and stunningly great work that these volunteers do to give all of us a better place to live.
They collect tons of rubbish, remove invasive plant species such as the Himalayan Balsam and Japanese Knotweed; monitor the insect population as this is the best indicator of river health. Currently they are also working to create access to the upper reaches of the Wandle to Trout and Eels, by removing or adapting the many weirs that shape the river from the Thames to its source in the Downs.
